# Privacy Policy

## 1. Data Controller

Vangrid Inc., a Delaware corporation, is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service. Contact: [privacy@vangrid.io](mailto:privacy@vangrid.io).

## 2. Privacy-by-Design Architecture

Vangrid is engineered so that personally identifiable information never leaves the contributor's device:

* Face detection and obfuscation runs on-device using ML inference before any encoding
* License plate detection and obfuscation runs on-device
* Body silhouette pixelation applies before frame encoding
* Vangrid servers receive only post-filter spatial geometry and metadata
* Unblurred imagery is never transmitted, accessed, or stored by Vangrid

We process spatial geometry of public infrastructure, not surveillance data of people.

## 3. Data We Collect

**Wallet address** — Ethereum wallet, used as pseudonymous account identifier. Legal basis: contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

**Filtered spatial captures** — post-blur video and derived geometry. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

**GPS coordinates** — attached to each scan for spatial indexing and fraud prevention. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

**Device metadata** — timestamps, capture duration, technical telemetry. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

**Discord ID** — collected only if user voluntarily links account for access code delivery. Legal basis: consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

We do **NOT** collect: name, email (unless you contact us), phone number, biometric templates, government IDs, payment information, or precise home addresses.

## 4. Privacy Zones & Contributor Controls

Contributors may designate personal privacy zones (home, workplace) where capture is automatically disabled. Network-level privacy zones around sensitive areas are enforced server-side and reject uploads within them.

## 5. Purpose of Processing

We process data to operate the decentralized perception grid, train spatial models, and provide derived geometric data to enterprise customers building autonomous systems and defense applications. We balance this legitimate interest against contributor and bystander privacy through our edge-filter architecture.

## 6. Data Sharing

We do **NOT** sell personal data. Filtered spatial datasets (containing no PII) may be licensed to:

* Defense and government customers under strict use restrictions
* Robotics and autonomous-systems developers
* World-model and AI research labs
* Critical infrastructure operators

Service providers acting on our behalf (cloud hosting, analytics) are bound by data processing agreements.

## 7. International Transfers

Personal data may be transferred outside the EEA/UK/Switzerland. Such transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (2021/914/EU) or equivalent safeguards. Request copies at [privacy@vangrid.io](mailto:privacy@vangrid.io).

## 8. Retention

* **Filtered captures:** retained for the operational life of the network
* **Wallet account data:** retained while account is active plus 90 days after closure
* **Access logs:** 12 months
* **Takedown-removed content:** 30-day verification hold, then deletion

## 9. Your Rights

**GDPR / UK GDPR (EU/UK residents):** Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

**CCPA / CPRA (California residents):** Right to know, delete, correct, opt-out of sale/sharing, and limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not "sell" personal information as defined by CCPA.

**Brazil (LGPD), Canada (PIPEDA), other jurisdictions:** Equivalent rights honored on request.

## 10. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Captures depicting identifiable minors must be reported via [privacy@vangrid.io](mailto:privacy@vangrid.io) for immediate removal.

## 11. Takedown & Redaction

Any individual whose face, body, vehicle, license plate, residence, or workplace appears in our data (even if already filtered) may request additional obfuscation or removal at [privacy@vangrid.io](mailto:privacy@vangrid.io). We process valid requests within 30 days. No account required.

## 12. Security

HTTPS in transit, AES-256 at rest, role-based access controls, and signed URLs for media access. No system is 100% secure; you contribute at your own risk.

## 13. Third-Party Processors

We engage processors including: AWS (storage and compute), Cloudflare (CDN), and bitsCrunch (data infrastructure). Updated processor list available on request.
